Umrah Continues Despite Aviation Disruptions

Pilgrims planning to perform Umrah can proceed as normal despite recent aviation disruptions, with the pilgrimage remaining fully available through the Kingdom's airports. Travelers may enter and depart via any international or regional airport in Saudi Arabia, provided they follow current airline and airport procedures.

Aviation disruptions do not affect Umrah eligibility. However, those planning to travel should confirm flight schedules and comply with the latest requirements set by carriers and airports before departure.

To perform Umrah, a valid Saudi entry visa is required, unless the traveler is already eligible under another valid Saudi visa category. An Umrah permit must be booked through the Nusuk application before performing the rite, while visa applications are submitted via Nusuk Umrah or through an approved Saudi-authorized agent. Approved agencies are responsible for arranging permitted accommodation, transport, and related services for Umrah-visa holders.

There are no Saudi fees for repeating Umrah. Exact prices for visas, insurance, transport, and packages vary by nationality, visa route, service provider, and travel dates, so no single all-in figure applies to every pilgrim. Required vaccinations and health certificates also depend on the traveler's country and current Ministry of Health requirements.

Key points for air travelers

Pilgrims arriving by air must enter ihram before crossing the miqat or its parallel point. It is worth noting that King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is not a miqat, so travelers should prepare accordingly during their journey.

visa issuance resumed on May 31, 2026, and entry to Makkah began on June 1, 2026. The following season's schedule sets visa issuance closure for March 9, 2027, final Umrah entry for March 23, 2027, and final departure for April 7, 2027. No change has been identified to routine digital services for ordinary Umrah processing, keeping the overall journey straightforward for pilgrims who plan ahead.
