A high-end tourism and lifestyle destination is taking shape at Wadi Safar, located near Diriyah and Wadi Hanifah northwest of Riyadh, as part of the broader Diriyah expansion into a luxury heritage and leisure hub. The masterplan features luxury resorts, branded residences, golf, equestrian sports, retail, and wellness facilities, with phased openings expected between 2025 and 2027.
A major contract valued at around SAR 8 billion (about USD 2.13 billion) has been awarded to deliver key parts of the project. The scope covers four luxury hotels — Aman, Six Senses, The Chedi, and Faena — alongside the Royal Diriyah Equestrian & Polo Club, retail spaces, mosques, and clinics.
What is planned
The Oberoi, Wadi Safar is set to open in the second half of 2026 as a gateway resort spread across roughly 62 square kilometres of natural landscape, with about 60 rooms and 10 private villas. A Six Senses property, planned as a hillside resort with around 80 to 92 guest rooms in five clusters, is also targeted for 2026. Outdoor and leisure activities will be anchored by a Greg Norman–designed "Royal Signature" championship golf course, supporting golf, polo, equestrian sports, hiking, and cycling.
A separately announced Trump International Golf Club, Wadi Safar, detailed in early 2026, is being developed on about 2.6 million square metres as a gated community with a championship course, a branded luxury hotel, and premium residences overlooking the wadis.
Wadi Safar is one of several ultra-luxury clusters within Diriyah's wider program, which targets around 40 to 42 luxury hotels, 300 branded residences, 1,000 shops, 150 restaurants and cafés, and 26 arts and culture centres. For residents and visitors in Riyadh, the development adds significant new options for tourism, dining, and outdoor recreation in the coming years.
