Watkins Double Sends Al-Hilal Top of Saudi Pro League

Ollie Watkins scored twice as Al-Hilal secured a commanding 6–0 win over Al-Taawoun in Buraidah on September 12, 2026, sending the club back to the top of the Saudi Pro League.

The victory lifted Al-Hilal to 18 points, moving them one point clear of Al-Ittihad at the summit of the table. The wide margin of the result underlined Al-Hilal's strong start to the campaign and reaffirmed their status as early title contenders.

Watkins, who joined Al-Hilal from Aston Villa in August 2026 on a three-year contract, continues to make an immediate impact since his arrival. His brace in Buraidah was central to the emphatic away performance.

The forward's move to the Saudi Pro League was reported to be worth around £51 million, though no exact fee in Saudi riyals has been publicly confirmed. His signing reflects the league's ongoing efforts to attract high-profile international talent.

For fans across the Kingdom, the result is another sign of the growing quality and competitiveness of domestic football, with the race for the title expected to remain tight in the weeks ahead.
