Abha International Airport set a new single-day record on 5 July 2026, handling 132 flights in one day — the highest daily operational figure in the airport's history.
The total included 117 domestic flights and 15 international flights, reflecting a surge in passenger traffic across the Asir region. The airport is operated by Cluster2 Airports.
Officials linked the record to strong summer travel demand, as visitors head to Asir's cooler highlands during the peak holiday period. The region has become one of the Kingdom's most popular domestic summer destinations, drawing families seeking mild weather and mountain scenery.
The milestone is part of a wider seasonal surge. Abha Airport is projected to handle around 10,000 scheduled inbound and outbound flights during the Aseer summer season, running from early June to the end of August 2026, with more than 1.8 million seats available over the period.
The record underscores Abha's growing role as a key gateway for domestic tourism and highlights the continued expansion of air travel options for residents and visitors heading south for the summer. Increased flight frequency typically means more schedule choices and improved connectivity for travellers planning trips to the region.
