Most of Saudi Arabia is expected to see above-average rainfall during October 2026, with forecasts pointing to a probability of up to 80% across much of the Kingdom. Residents in several regions should prepare for wetter-than-usual conditions.
Rainfall is expected to range from moderate to heavy, and may turn very heavy in Tabuk, Madinah, Al-Baha, Asir, Al-Jouf, Hail, Qassim, the Northern Borders, most of Riyadh except the south, and western Najran. Extremely heavy rainfall is possible in Makkah, Jazan, and most of the Eastern Province except its southern parts.
Coastal areas are also included in the outlook, with above-average rainfall forecast along both the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf coasts. Despite the increase in rain, average temperatures are expected to stay above normal through the October to December 2026 period.
Why it matters
Heavier rainfall can bring the risk of flooded roads, reduced visibility, and traffic disruptions, particularly during sudden downpours. Communities in affected regions are advised to stay cautious while driving, avoid valleys and low-lying areas during rain, and plan outdoor activities carefully.
Official daily warnings and regional alerts are issued by the National Center for Meteorology, and residents are encouraged to follow the latest updates and heed any guidance issued for their area during periods of active weather.
