Al-Badayea Dates Market in Qassim is recording strong activity during the current dates season, supporting agricultural trade and local economic growth in the region. The market operates as a seasonal venue under the seasonal markets framework of the National Center for Palms and Dates, with dedicated auction yards and retail zones focused mainly on Sukkari dates.
Saudi Arabia's early dates season for 2026 runs roughly from late May to September, and Qassim's central date markets began receiving the new harvest during this period. In the region's major markets this season, retail prices reach up to SAR 50 around SAR 40 for Kholas, and about SAR 30 for Sagai. Boxes of Sukkari rutab sell for roughly SAR 25 to 50 depending on size and quality, while broader consumer prices at festivals have ranged from about SAR 5 for 3 kg of lower-grade dates up to around SAR 700 for premium grades and bulk quantities.
Al-Badayea is one of several coordinated date seasons across Qassim, alongside events such as the Buraidah International Date Carnival, Unaizah International Date Season, Al-Mithnab Sukari Red Season, Al-Rass Date Market Season and Al-Bukairiyah Date Season, forming an integrated regional economic and marketing system. The seasonal markets platform focuses on improving marketing efficiency for farmers and traders, raising service standards, organizing auctions and retail activity, and expanding market reach for premium local produce.
The strong local activity comes amid rising demand. Saudi date exports reached about SAR 1.938 billion in 2025, up 14.3% over 2024 and nearly 60% since 2021. In Qassim, date markets and festivals typically operate in the late afternoon and evening; the Buraydah Dates Carnival at King Khalid Cultural Center, for example, opens daily from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm with free entry and free parking. Fumigation, packing and processing services in Al-Badayea and wider Qassim are provided through licensed facilities registered with the National Center for Palms and Dates.
