Al-Hilal Agree to Transfer João Cancelo to Barcelona

Al-Hilal have agreed to transfer defender João Cancelo to Barcelona, paving the way for the Portuguese full-back to leave the Saudi club and continue his career in Spain.

The agreement brings an end to Cancelo's time with Al-Hilal, one of the most prominent clubs in Saudi football. The versatile defender, known for his attacking runs and ability to operate on either flank, moves to a major European destination.

Why it matters

The deal reflects the two-way movement now shaping Saudi football, as clubs in the Kingdom both attract established international stars and negotiate departures with leading European sides. Such transfers keep the Saudi Pro League firmly in the global football conversation.

For fans in Riyadh, Jeddah and across the Kingdom, Cancelo's departure marks another notable chapter in Al-Hilal's roster planning. Supporters will now look to how the club reshapes its defensive line ahead of upcoming fixtures.
