Kingdom Holding Company has completed its acquisition of a 70% controlling stake in Al Hilal Club Company from the Public Investment Fund, in a deal that closed on 1 September 2026. The transaction makes Kingdom Holding the majority owner of one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent football clubs, while the Public Investment Fund retains a 30% minority stake.
The two parties signed a binding share sale and purchase agreement in April 2026. The purchase price for the 70% stake was set at SAR 840,000,000, implying an equity valuation of SAR 1,200,000,000 for the full club company and an enterprise value of approximately SAR 1,400,000,000.
The deal received the required regulatory and internal approvals before closing, and the ownership change was formalized through capital market disclosure on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), the official channel for announcing and recording such transactions.
Part of the sports privatization program
The acquisition forms part of Saudi Arabia's sports club privatization program, launched after the Public Investment Fund took majority control of leading Saudi Pro League clubs in 2023. The program aims to bring private and institutional capital into the running of the Kingdom's top clubs.
For fans, the transaction is a corporate share acquisition rather than an individual service, so no user steps or fee-based procedures are required. As of September 2026, no public changes have been announced to fan-facing services such as ticketing platforms, stadium access apps, or related e-services tied to this ownership transfer.
