Al Ittihad Sign Senegal's Dion Lopy on 3-Year Deal

Al Ittihad have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Senegalese player Dion Lopy from Spanish club Almeria on a three-year contract. The deal was completed in August 2026, with the agreement reported to run until 2029, ahead of the 2026-27 season.

the transfer is worth €13 million guaranteed, with a further €6 million possible in performance-related bonuses, bringing the total potential value of the move to €19 million. Almeria are also reported to retain a 10% sell-on clause, entitling them to a share of any future resale.

What it means for fans

The addition of Lopy reinforces Al Ittihad's ambitions to compete at the top of the domestic and continental game. For supporters in Jeddah and across the Kingdom, the arrival of an established European-based midfielder signals the club's continued push to attract competitive talent to the Saudi Pro League.

Lopy is expected to add depth and energy to the centre of the pitch as the club prepares for the new season. His three-year commitment gives the coaching staff time to build around a player entering the core years of his career, and reflects the wider trend of Saudi clubs investing in younger internationals alongside marquee names.

Further details on his squad number and first appearances are expected to be confirmed by the club as the season approaches.
