Al-Mazyad Named Vice Minister of Tourism

Abdulmohsen Al-Mazyad has been appointed Vice Minister of Tourism in Saudi Arabia, taking on one of the ministry's senior leadership roles. The appointment was issued on 12 February 2026 and published in the official gazette the following day.

Al-Mazyad previously served as Deputy Minister for Licensing and Classification within the Ministry of Tourism. In his new role, he is responsible for overseeing tourism licensing, classification, compliance, and hospitality standards across the Kingdom.

Ahmed Al-Khateeb continues to serve as Minister of Tourism, and the leadership of the ministry remains unchanged at the top. The appointment came as part of a wider 2026 government reshuffle that moved several senior officials into new positions.

Why it matters

For residents, expats, and visitors, tourism licensing and classification shape the quality and reliability of hotels, tour operators, and hospitality services. Clearer oversight of standards can help travellers and businesses know what to expect when booking stays or planning trips within the Kingdom.

The tourism sector continues to expand as part of the country's broader economic diversification goals, and stronger regulatory leadership supports that growth. Saudi Living will share further updates as the ministry announces changes relevant to the community.
