A royal order has appointed Abdulmohsen bin Mohammed bin Hamoud Al-Mazyad as Deputy (Vice) Minister of Tourism with the excellent rank, effective 24 Sha'ban 1447 (12 February 2026). The appointment was published in the official gazette, issue 5144.
Under a separate royal order issued the same day, Princess Haifa bint Mohammed bin Saud bin Khalid was relieved of her position as Deputy Minister of Tourism, with Al-Mazyad appointed in her place. She was reassigned as an adviser at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
Al-Mazyad's new role focuses on regulatory and development oversight of the tourism sector. He builds on his previous position as Deputy Minister for Licensing and Classification at the Ministry of Tourism, where he supervised licensing, classification, and compliance for hotels, resorts, tour operators, and other tourism facilities. In that role, he carried out field inspections of hospitality facilities in Makkah to ensure readiness for Hajj pilgrims and compliance with the tourism law and its executive regulations.
The appointment is part of broader government leadership changes and a recalibration of the tourism strategy under رؤية السعودية 2030, which aims to expand leisure and religious tourism and diversify non-oil revenues.
The royal order directs competent government entities to adopt and implement the decision. No changes to public-facing platforms, tourist visa fees, license validity periods, or procedural requirements are detailed in the appointment text itself.
