Al-Nassr held by Al-Khaleej as Al-Hilal top league

Al-Nassr were held to a 1–1 draw by Al-Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League on 12 September 2026, a result that slowed their charge at the top of the table as the title race tightened after seven rounds.

On the same matchday, Al-Hilal produced a commanding display, defeating Al-Taawoun 6–0 to climb to first place with 18 points. The emphatic win underlined Al-Hilal's early-season form and gave them a slim edge at the summit.

Al-Ittihad sat second with 17 points, just one point behind the leaders, while Al-Nassr slipped to third on 16 points after dropping two points against Al-Khaleej. The tight gap between the top three sets up a competitive stretch of fixtures in the weeks ahead.

Why it matters

With only one or two points separating the leading clubs, every result now carries added weight for supporters across the Kingdom. Fans in Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond can expect closely contested matches as the season progresses, keeping the fight for the top spot open and unpredictable.
