Bank-Financed Non-Oil Exports Fall 5.2% in Q2 2026

Non-oil exports from Saudi Arabia's private sector that were financed by local commercial banks declined by 5.2% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, compared with the same period of 2025. The value of these bank-financed exports stood at about SAR 37 billion during the quarter.

The figure reflects only export activity financed through commercial banks, not the Kingdom's total non-oil exports. No specific changes to fees, procedures, or validity periods for commercial-bank export financing were detailed for the period.

Support shifts toward specialized financing

Alongside the commercial-bank slowdown, dedicated export support in 2026 has been channeled largely through Saudi EXIM Bank. The institution raised its credit facilities to non-oil exporters by 17.2% in the first half of 2026, reaching SAR 27.67 billion. It disbursed SAR 8.20 billion in export financing during the same period, slightly below the SAR 8.87 billion recorded in the first half of 2025.

Export credit insurance also expanded, covering SAR 19.47 billion of insured exports in the first half of 2026, a rise of 32.09% year-on-year. Financing products this year focus on pre-export finance for working capital and raw materials, post-shipment and buyer finance for international purchasers of Saudi goods and services, and cooperation with local commercial banks for indirect financing and guarantees.

The developments come amid broader pressure on non-oil trade. Non-oil exports excluding re-exports fell about 9.1% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026 to SAR 57.8 billion, while total commodity exports rose 8.7%. In June 2026, non-oil exports dropped 11.4% year-on-year to about SAR 15.3 billion. For businesses and exporters in the community, the trend signals a period of adjustment in how export activity is financed, with specialized institutions playing a larger role.
