Cabinet Reshuffle: New Leaders at CMA and LCGPA

Saudi Arabia announced a series of royal decrees on 13 August 2026, reconstituting the Cabinet under the chairmanship of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with serving ministers remaining in their current portfolios.

Among the most notable changes, leadership shifted at two key economic and financial bodies. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef was relieved of his position as chairman of the board of the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA). Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud — who serves as Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources — was appointed as the authority's new board chairman.

At the Capital Market Authority (CMA), Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Kuwaiz was relieved of his role as chairman of the board, concluding a tenure of nearly nine years at the regulator. Mazen bin Turki Al-Sudairi was appointed chairman of the board of the CMA with the rank of minister, and the authority later confirmed his assumption of the role.

Why it matters

These moves form part of a broader 2026 Cabinet reshuffle centered on key economic and financial authorities, without altering the posts of other serving ministers. The two bodies affected play central roles in the Kingdom's business landscape: the LCGPA oversees local content requirements in government procurement, while the CMA regulates Saudi capital markets.

For residents, investors, and businesses, the decrees mark leadership continuity at the ministerial level alongside fresh direction at these regulators. As of August 2026, the available information on the reshuffle does not specify any new fees, prices, validity periods, or changes to user procedures on government platforms resulting directly from these particular decrees.
