Customs officers at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam intercepted an incoming postal parcel containing 18,549 amphetamine pills during routine customs inspection in early September 2026, in an operation that later led to the arrest of four suspects inside the Kingdom.
The pills were concealed inside the parcel and uncovered using security screening technologies and live detection methods, including canine units, as part of standard inspection procedures carried out at the airport. Following the seizure, authorities coordinated with narcotics control units on a follow-up operation that identified and arrested four suspects who were expecting to receive the shipment.
Prohibited goods and legal steps
Pills, intoxicants, and drugs of all kinds fall under prohibited goods that are fully banned from entering the Kingdom. Such items are subject to seizure and legal penalties, and no customs duties, release fees, or regular clearance charges apply because the goods are confiscated as contraband.
Cases of this kind proceed through criminal investigation and judicial channels, with the suspects referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal procedures. This type of case is not handled through self-service e-government platforms, which do not provide channels for narcotics-smuggling matters.
The operation reflects the ongoing role of inspection technology and coordinated field work in intercepting prohibited shipments before they reach recipients, an effort that supports public safety across the community in Saudi Arabia.
