SFDA Acts Against Unlicensed Peptide Online Sellers

Saudi authorities have taken legal action against a number of websites and social-media accounts found marketing unregistered peptide products without the required licenses. The move targets the owners of the violating online stores, whose cases are being prepared for referral to the Public Prosecution.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority identified the products being sold and promoted online without proper registration. Under the Kingdom's regulations, no pharmaceutical product may be sold, dispensed, or held for trading unless it is officially registered.

The conduct falls under Paragraph 2 of Article 34 of the Law of Pharmaceutical and Herbal Establishments and Preparations, which prohibits selling, dispensing, or possessing an unregistered pharmaceutical product for the purpose of trading. Violators face maximum penalties of up to SAR 5,000,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both.

Why It Matters

Unregistered products that bypass official review can pose serious health risks to consumers, since their safety, quality, and contents have not been verified through the Kingdom's approval process. The enforcement action is a reminder that medicines and pharmaceutical preparations should only be obtained through licensed and registered channels.

Residents who come across suspicious products or unauthorized online sellers can report them to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority through its unified number, 19999.
