Diriyah Guide: At-Turaif, Bujairi Terrace & Tickets

Just northwest of الرياض, الدرعية is one of the Kingdom's most rewarding cultural destinations — a place where restored mud-brick streets, a UNESCO World Heritage core and a lively dining district sit side by side along Wadi Hanifa. Whether you are a long-term resident rediscovering Saudi heritage or a newcomer planning a first outing, this guide covers the main landmarks, entry rules, timings and practical details to help you plan a smooth visit.

At-Turaif District: the UNESCO heart of Diriyah

At-Turaif is the historic core of الدرعية and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the distinctive Najdi mud-brick architecture that defined the first Saudi state. Walking its restored lanes, palaces and museum spaces is the highlight of any visit.

  • Location: At-Turaif district, northwest of الرياض.
  • Typical heritage-area hours: daily 17:00–00:00, with last entry around 23:00.
  • Guided heritage tours on site cost around SAR 120
  • Royal Palace and At-Turaif museum packages have been advertised around SAR 146 for 2026.

The Diriyah Pass: what it covers

Access to both At-Turaif and Bujairi Terrace is organised through the Diriyah Pass, which follows a dynamic pricing model.

  • Standard pass: around SAR 50, rising up to SAR 100 at peak times or during seasons.
  • Free entry to At-Turaif and Bujairi daily between 9:00 and 16:59.
  • From 17:00, entry is SAR 50 per person — and this amount is redeemable as dining credit at Bujairi Terrace outlets.
  • Children up to 12 years enter free under the Diriyah Pass policy.

Bujairi Terrace: dining and cultural leisure

Across Wadi Hanifa from At-Turaif, Bujairi Terrace is the destination's dining and social hub, with views over the historic district and a wide range of restaurants and cafés. It shares the same pricing and timing rules as the heritage area.

  • Saturday–Wednesday: 10:00–00:00.
  • Thursday: 10:00–01:00.
  • Friday: 14:00–01:00.

Tickets: how to book

Evening entry (from 17:00) is sold online only. There are no physical ticket booths after 17:00 — instead you pay online and enter via QR-code scan.

  • Tickets are single-use, valid for the chosen date and time window.
  • A same-day Diriyah Pass covers both heritage and Bujairi entry.
  • Booking and information are handled through the official Diriyah channels operated by the destination's development company.
  • These are tourism products only, so booking is not linked to أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ or توكلنا.

Parking and getting there

Driving is the most convenient way to reach الدرعية from الرياض, and several parking options are available (2026 official tariffs):

  • Bujairi Parking: SAR 30 for the first 3 hours, then SAR 10
  • Samhan Parking: SAR 30 for the first 3 hours, then SAR 10
  • Valet parking: SAR 150 with a valet location at Zallal.

Tips for a smooth visit

  • Visit before 17:00 to enjoy free daytime entry, or come in the evening when the redeemable dining credit makes the ticket good value.
  • Book evening tickets online in advance, especially on weekends and during seasons when dynamic pricing applies.
  • Bring a phone with a charged battery for QR-code entry.
  • Always confirm the latest prices, hours and availability on the official Diriyah website before you go.
