Ehsan Bafaqeeh Named New Mayor of Jeddah

Royal orders issued on 11 July 2026 named Ehsan Bafaqeeh as mayor (Amin) of Jeddah Governorate at the “excellent” grade. He succeeds Saleh Al-Turki, who led the Jeddah Municipality from August 2018 until April 2026.

Born in Jeddah in 1973, Bafaqeeh is an economist and investment banker with a track record across both the public and private sectors. He previously served as governor of the State Properties General Authority from December 2018 to March 2023, and held leadership roles including CEO of Mohammed Al-Subaie (MASIC) Logistics Services, CFO of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), and chairman of Al-Fadhili Housing Company.

He holds a bachelor's degree in science from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a Wealth Manager certification issued by the Saudi central banking authority.

Taking office

As of mid-July 2026, Bafaqeeh has officially assumed his duties. He held introductory meetings with Jeddah Municipality sector heads and staff, and reviewed priority municipal projects and service-performance plans.

His publicly stated priorities include enhancing municipal services, expanding fieldwork, and improving quality of life for Jeddah residents, in line with national urban-development objectives. For residents and businesses across the city, the appointment signals continued focus on service delivery and everyday quality of life. No new fees, procedures, or e-services on government platforms are tied to the appointment itself.
