Ehsan Launches First Digital Wallet for Greening Projects

Saudi Arabia has launched its first digital donations wallet dedicated to environmental and vegetation-cover projects, available through the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan). The wallet, introduced in August 2026, is a partnership between the National Afforestation Program under the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification and a private-sector cement company.

The new fund is restricted to environmental initiatives aligned with the Saudi Green Initiative, including afforestation, the rehabilitation of degraded land, and supporting local nonprofit entities carrying out these projects. It was launched with an opening corporate contribution of 50,000 SAR from the partnering cement company.

How to donate

The wallet is accessible only through the official Ehsan website and mobile application, under the category for environmental or vegetation-cover projects. It is not offered as a native service through other government platforms. Donations start from as little as 1 SAR, with no stated upper limit, and can be made as one-time or recurring contributions. Donors pay no platform service fees, so the full amount goes to the cause.

To contribute, users open the Ehsan app or website, select the dedicated vegetation-cover wallet, choose the amount and frequency, authenticate via mobile number and OTP or national digital identity, and complete payment. Accepted methods include Mada debit cards, Visa and Mastercard credit cards, selected local bank accounts via direct debit, and approved digital wallets. A digital receipt is issued after each donation.

The wallet gives residents and companies a simple, transparent way to take part in national greening efforts. By channeling contributions directly to afforestation and land rehabilitation, it broadens public participation in the Kingdom's environmental goals while making it easy for everyday donors to support long-term sustainability.
