Expo 2030 Riyadh and Expo 2027 Belgrade signed a Cooperation Agreement on Structured Knowledge Transfer and Observer Program in Belgrade on 23 June 2026, as the Kingdom prepares to host its first World Expo in the capital.
The agreement sets up a structured knowledge-transfer framework between the two organizing teams and an observer program that allows each side to take part in site visits and operational observation. Cooperation will focus on governance and the institutional setup of expo operations, site development and master-planning of the expo grounds, participant management for countries and organizations, operational readiness, and the digital systems used to run a live event.
Under the agreement, both teams plan to carry out study visits and site tours of each other's facilities and construction sites, hold workshops on planning, operations and legacy development, and run expert exchanges between technical, operational and management staff. Observer programmes will also take place during key milestones and test events.
Why it matters
The partnership is designed to advance operational readiness for both events by sharing best practices and lessons learned, and to strengthen the organizational capabilities needed to deliver Saudi Arabia's first World Expo in Riyadh. It also aims to support a long-term legacy for both expos beyond their closing dates.
For residents and businesses in Riyadh, the agreement is an early sign of how preparations are taking shape. As of 2026, no official ticket prices, pavilion rental fees, or commercial participation charges for Expo 2030 Riyadh have been published, and no expo-specific procedures or fees are yet listed on state digital platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ or توكلنا. Official updates on this partnership are being issued through the event's official website and its official account on X.
