Fawaz Al-Sahli Named Transport Authority President

Saudi Arabia has appointed Fawaz Al-Sahli as President of the Transport General Authority in February 2026, in a move that places new leadership at the head of one of the Kingdom's key regulatory bodies.

The appointment came as part of a wider reshuffle covering several senior government posts. Al-Sahli succeeds Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, who had been serving as acting head of the Authority prior to the change.

The Transport General Authority is the Kingdom's regulator for land, rail, and maritime transport. It oversees the standards, licensing, and development of these sectors, making it central to how goods and people move across the country.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses in cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, the Authority's work touches daily life — from public transport services to the movement of freight and logistics that keep markets supplied. New leadership signals continued focus on improving the reliability and quality of these services.

The reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the transport and logistics sector, an area viewed as a priority for the Kingdom's long-term economic goals. No changes to fees, services, or timelines were announced alongside the appointment.
