Final Exit Visa in Saudi Arabia: Process & Checklist

The final exit visa is the official document that lets a resident leave Saudi Arabia permanently and formally end their residency status. Because a final exit generally cannot be cancelled once issued, and because it closes your Iqama and residency the moment it takes effect, getting every detail right before submission matters more than with almost any other government service. This Saudi Living guide walks you through eligibility, the requirements to check first, how the visa is issued, and the common issues that can block or delay it.

What a final exit visa actually does

A final exit visa is different from an exit/re-entry permit. It is a one-way departure: once issued and used, your residency in the Kingdom ends. There is no government fee for the visa itself. Some guidance mentions a small electronic-platform charge, but the amount is inconsistent across current sources, so always confirm whatever figure is shown on screen before you pay in the official service.

Requirements to check before you apply

The resident must be physically inside Saudi Arabia when the visa is issued. Beyond location, run through this list carefully:

  • Iqama validity: At least 30 days must remain. If fewer than 30 days are left, renew the Iqama first. When 30–59 days remain, the visa's validity usually matches the remaining Iqama period.
  • Passport validity: At least 60 days is generally required.
  • Biometrics: Fingerprints must be registered for anyone aged 15 or older.
  • Traffic violations: Clear any outstanding fines linked to both the worker and the sponsor.
  • Vehicles: Transfer or dispose of any vehicles registered in the resident's name before issuance.
  • Employment record: The contract and employment relationship should be properly closed, with salary, end-of-service benefits, and any other claims settled.
  • Government charges & restrictions: Resolve unpaid government fees and check for any pending legal or administrative holds.

Validity period

A final exit visa is valid for up to 60 days from issuance. Where the Iqama has only 30–59 days left, the validity generally aligns with the remaining Iqama period. Plan your departure so you leave the Kingdom before the visa expires.

How the visa is issued

The visa is issued by the sponsor, not the worker. For a company employee, the sponsor applies through أبشر Business or مقيم. A typical flow in أبشر Business looks like this:

  • Sign in to the account.
  • Open My Business Services.
  • Select Issue Final Exit Visa.
  • Choose the worker.
  • Verify details and eligibility.
  • Submit.

For domestic workers, the employer or head of household applies through أبشر, أبشر Business, or مقيم. The worker normally cannot apply on their own.

Note that قوى may be relevant for closing the employment contract, but it does not replace the final-exit issuance service itself.

After the visa is issued

Once the visa is in place, leave Saudi Arabia before it expires. A final exit ends the Iqama and residency status, so any services tied to your residency will no longer be available after departure. Settle housing, utilities, bank matters, and any subscriptions before you travel.

Why double-checking matters

A final-exit visa generally cannot be cancelled after issuance. That single fact is the reason to slow down and confirm everything before you press submit. Before submission, verify:

  • Iqama and passport expiry dates.
  • Traffic violations for both worker and sponsor.
  • Vehicle ownership status.
  • Biometric registration.
  • Employment termination and settled dues.
  • Unpaid government charges.
  • Any pending legal or administrative restrictions.

The official channels for this process are أبشر and أبشر Business, مقيم, and the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). If any figure, requirement, or eligibility condition is unclear, confirm it directly in the relevant official service before you proceed, because the on-screen details are what govern your specific case.
