Students aged 10 to 17 in Riyadh can now train to build their own video games through a free youth camp at King Salman Science Oasis, running from 26 to 30 July 2026. Known as the Next Gen Games Camp, the program is divided into a junior track for ages 10–13 and a senior track for ages 14–17.
The camp offers 20 educational hours across five days, with two daily sessions to choose from: a morning session from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and an afternoon session from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Under the theme "From Player to Game Maker," it covers the basics of game design and development, turning ideas into prototypes, and building creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
No prior coding or game-design experience is required. Participants work in teams to transform their own concepts into working game prototypes, and the camp concludes with a competition for the title of "Best Game in the Next-Generation Games Camp."
Why it matters
The camp is part of a wider effort to develop Saudi youth talent in game development and to integrate practical game design into STEM-focused education, backed by a memorandum of understanding between Savvy Games Group and King Salman Science Oasis. A closing ceremony for the Riyadh camp brought together senior figures from Saudi e-sports and Savvy's leadership, where students showcased their final games.
Seats are limited and advance registration is required. Registration and official information are handled directly through King Salman Science Oasis. Families can inquire and register via the Oasis's event page, by email at info@ks-scienceoasis.org.sa, by phone at 0550630404 or 0114830404, or through the social media account @Ks_ScienceOasis.
