Grassroots Cricket Grows Across Saudi Arabia

Grassroots cricket is growing rapidly across Saudi Arabia, with organized competitions, academies, and community programs now reaching players of all ages in cities including Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dhahran, and Thuwal.

The National Cricket Championship covers 14 regional associations, 405 teams, and nearly 7,500 players. For the 2025–2026 season, the structure expands to 370 clubs, 107 grounds, two academies, and 15 regional associations, reflecting steady growth in participation nationwide.

The development pathway reaches young players through school cricket as well as under-16 and under-19 competitions for both boys and girls. Monthly Social Cricket events now run in at least five Saudi cities, while school, academy, community, youth, women's, family, and children's programs continue to broaden access.

Academies and community clubs

A range of academies and clubs support new and experienced players. The Net Indoor Cricket Academy in Jeddah offers coaching at typical fees of around SAR 300. In Thuwal near Jeddah, KAUST cricket charges SAR 100 for annual club membership, with non-members typically paying SAR 50 for club events, and runs a free Juniors Cricket season for children aged 6–16 within the KAUST community.

In Dhahran, Peninsula Sports Academy offers cricket-inclusive packages priced at approximately SAR 754 or SAR 1,559, with corresponding three-month options. In Jeddah, JSC Sports trains more than 50 boys and girls aged 5–17 and operates a Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy centre in partnership.

The expansion gives families and expats more ways to get involved in a popular sport close to home. Note that no verified official 2026 registration procedure, Absher or Muqeem requirement, nationwide fee schedule, or uniform validity period is currently available for grassroots cricket participation, so interested players should confirm details directly with local clubs and academies.
