Health Ministry: Complete First-Grade Fitness Screening

The Ministry of Health has called on parents across Saudi Arabia to complete the required fitness screening for children entering the first grade, a step carried out at primary healthcare centers through family medicine clinics. The screening has been made available for students joining the 1448 AH academic year, corresponding to 2026–2027.

Appointments are booked through the Sehhaty application. Parents log in or create an account, select "Appointments" then "Book an Appointment," choose a primary healthcare center and the family medicine clinic, pick a suitable date and time, and confirm the booking. The child must attend accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Families are asked to bring the child's family ID or residence permit along with the original vaccination certificate. The screening reviews the child's medical and family history, verifies vaccinations, and includes a clinical examination covering height, weight and body mass index, as well as vision, hearing, speech, and dental and oral checks.

Why it matters

The examination helps determine whether a child is suited for general or special education, and provides a referral when further follow-up is needed. This gives families an early, clear picture of their child's health before the school year begins.

The service is offered through Ministry of Health primary healthcare centers at no specified fee. There is no fixed national validity period; the screening is completed for first-grade admission during the applicable school-enrollment period. Parents are encouraged to book early to secure a convenient appointment ahead of enrollment.
