Heavy Rain, Flash Floods and 48°C Heat Forecast

The National Center for Meteorology is forecasting thunderstorms and heavy rain over several regions of the Kingdom during the current period, alongside sharply rising temperatures that reach up to 48°C in parts of the country. Weather alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms and flash floods are in effect across a number of areas.

thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah, with the potential for flash floods, hail, and active winds that stir up dust and sand. Rain-bearing thunderclouds may also form over parts of Najran, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Madinah and the northeastern areas of the Kingdom.

On the temperature side, conditions are described as hot to extremely hot across large parts of the country. Maximum readings reach 48°C in Dammam, 46°C in Riyadh, 45°C in Madinah and Buraidah, and 44°C in Makkah. Other highs include 40°C in Najran, 39°C in Hail, 38°C in Jeddah and Jazan, 37°C in Tabuk, 36°C in Arar, 35°C in Sakaka, 31°C in Al-Baha, and between 29°C and 30°C in Abha.

The combination of severe heat in some regions and heavy convective rain in others means residents should take extra care. In areas under flash-flood warnings, valleys and low-lying roads can become dangerous quickly, while active winds may reduce visibility. In the hottest cities, staying hydrated and limiting outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours is advised.

These forecasts and alerts are issued through official daily weather bulletins and are available to the public as free information, with no fees, applications or e-platform procedures required to access them.
