Heavy Rain, Hail Forecast in Saudi Regions Until Sunday

Moderate to heavy thunderstorms are forecast across several Saudi regions through Sunday, September 27, 2026, with residents in Makkah, Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha urged to take precautions as unstable weather brings rain, hail, and strong winds.

Within Makkah Region, heavier rain is expected around Taif, Maysan, Adham, and Al-Ardiyat, while lighter to moderate rain is anticipated over Makkah city, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, Al-Laith, and Al-Qunfudhah. Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha are set for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by hail, dust-raising winds, and a risk of flash floods. Madinah and Najran may see light to moderate rainfall.

Rainfall could reach 10 to 50 millimetres with downdraft winds exceeding 60 km/h in severe areas. Such conditions can trigger flash floods, sharply reduce visibility, and carry dust and sand that make driving hazardous.

Safety guidance

Residents and travelers are advised to steer clear of valleys, flood channels, and low-lying areas where water tends to collect. Swimming or wading in floodwater is unsafe and should be avoided entirely. Motorists should reduce speed and keep a safe distance during periods of poor visibility.

Alerts are being issued through the National Center for Meteorology early-warning system and Civil Defense channels. There are no fees or procedures tied to the warning; the guidance is simply to stay informed and follow official updates until the weather stabilizes after Sunday.
