How to Use Absher: Essential Services for Residents

Absher is the digital gateway that keeps daily life in Saudi Arabia running smoothly. Whether you're renewing your Iqama, issuing an exit/re-entry visa, checking traffic fines, or viewing your family's records, the platform brings more than 160 government e-services into one account. For residents and expats, learning to navigate Absher confidently saves time, avoids office queues, and lets you handle most residency and travel matters from your phone. This Saudi Living guide walks you through the services you'll actually use.

Getting Started: Account, Login, and نفاذ

Creating an Absher account and logging in is completely free. Once registered, you can activate نفاذ (the national single sign-on) to securely access many other government platforms with the same verified identity. Routine actions such as checking your Iqama status, viewing outstanding fines, and seeing your registered dependents carry no charge at all.

  • Register using your Iqama number and a valid mobile number.
  • Verify your identity to unlock the full range of services.
  • Activate نفاذ so you can log in to other portals without repeating verification.

Renewing Your Iqama Online

Iqama renewal is one of the most-used Absher services, and it can be done entirely online — no office visit required. You can renew up to 90 days before your Iqama expires, which gives you comfortable breathing room before the deadline.

  • Go to My Services → Iqama Renewal.
  • Pay using Mada, Visa, or Mastercard, or through SADAD.
  • The annual government fee is commonly SAR 650 for company and establishment employees, plus any applicable expat levies.
  • Where the value-added Absher processing fee applies, add SAR 51.75.

Once payment is confirmed, your renewed Iqama becomes valid immediately in digital form inside Absher — no waiting for a new card.

Understanding the Fees

It helps to separate two things: the core government fee paid via SADAD (Passports biller code 092) and the Absher processing fee that has applied to most Iqama-related transactions since January 2025.

  • Core residency fees (SADAD): SAR 650/year for company employees; SAR 600 for professional individual renewal; SAR 600 for domestic worker or farmer/herder residency; SAR 500 for companion residency after age 18.
  • Absher processing fees: New Iqama issuance SAR 51.75; Iqama renewal SAR 51.75; exit/re-entry visa extension SAR 103.50; final exit visa SAR 70.00; updating passport information SAR 69.00; requesting an employee report SAR 28.75; profession (job title) change SAR 1,000.

Note that for a final exit visa, the SAR 70.00 is the Absher processing fee — the government fee for the visa itself is SAR 0. Always confirm the exact amount shown on-screen before paying, as levies vary by situation.

Exit / Re-Entry and Final Exit Visas

Planning to travel outside the Kingdom? You can issue an exit/re-entry visa yourself through Absher.

  • Follow the path My Services → Resident services → Exit/Re-Entry Visa.
  • Choose between a single or multiple entry visa and set the validity period.
  • If you need more time, you can extend the visa (Absher processing fee SAR 103.50).
  • For those permanently leaving, the final exit visa is also issued here.

Sponsored family members' visas are typically handled from the head-of-family account, so keep your dependents' documents up to date.

The Digital Iqama: No Card Needed

One of the biggest conveniences is the digital Iqama displayed inside Absher. It is legally accepted at hotels, traffic stops, hospital admissions, and most government counters. Carrying the physical card is no longer mandatory for these situations — your verified digital record is enough. Keep your Absher app installed and logged in so you can present it whenever asked.

Everyday Services Worth Knowing

Beyond residency and travel, Absher covers a wide range of daily needs:

  • Checking and paying traffic violations.
  • Viewing vehicle and driving licence information.
  • Managing appointments with government offices.
  • Updating passport information linked to your Iqama.
  • Requesting employee reports and reviewing family dependents.

Because fees and procedures are updated from time to time, always confirm the current amounts and steps on the official Absher portal before completing any transaction. With a verified account and a little familiarity, Absher becomes the single tool that handles nearly every residency task you'll face in the Kingdom.
