How to Use Absher: Services Every Resident Needs

Absher is the backbone of daily government life in Saudi Arabia. It is the main free e-services portal for residents and citizens, letting you handle everything from iqama inquiries to traffic fines without visiting an office. In this Saudi Living guide, we walk you through the services every resident should know, how to log in securely, and what the 2026 fees look like — including the flexible quarterly renewal options.

Getting Started: App, Website, and Login

Absher is available two ways: the Absher Individuals mobile app (iOS and Android) and the website at absher.sa. Both are free to use. Once your account is activated, you can sign in using one of two methods:

  • Nafath (National Access) — the recommended, most secure route, which pushes a login confirmation to your device.
  • Username/ID and password, followed by a one-time SMS code sent to your registered Saudi mobile number.

Because so much depends on that registered mobile number, keeping it current is essential. If your number changes, update it through Absher's personal information services so you never miss a verification code.

Iqama (Resident ID) Services

Under the Passports (Jawazat) section, Absher lets you check your iqama status and inquire about outstanding fees before they become a problem. This is the first place to look if you are unsure whether your residency is valid or when it expires.

An important point that trips up many newcomers: as a private-sector worker, you generally cannot renew your own iqama through Absher Individuals. That renewal is filed by your sponsor or employer through business portals such as Absher Business or مقيم. What you can do on Absher Individuals is renew residency for your dependents and domestic workers — family members and household staff — via Passports → Renew Residency (Iqama).

Exit/Re-Entry and Final Exit Visas

Travel-related services are among the most used features. From Absher you can:

  • Issue an exit/re-entry visa before travelling abroad and returning.
  • Extend an exit/re-entry visa if your trip runs longer than planned.
  • Request a final exit visa when you are leaving the Kingdom permanently.

Always confirm the validity window of your visa before you fly, and make sure any accompanying dependents have their own valid visas linked to your account.

Traffic, Driving, and Vehicle Services

Absher consolidates a wide range of road-related tasks in one place, including:

  • Viewing and paying traffic violations.
  • Driver's license services.
  • Vehicle services such as ownership and registration inquiries.

Under the general "My Services" area you can also view violations, update personal information, and run everyday inquiries across your linked profiles.

2026 Iqama Fees at a Glance

Fees are set by the government and paid through the appropriate portal. As a general guide for 2026:

  • Private-sector worker iqama renewal: SAR 650 per year.
  • Domestic worker iqama renewal (drivers, housekeepers, guards): SAR 600 per year, paid by the sponsor.
  • Establishment/company workers: often listed at SAR 650 per year.
  • Dependents over 18: SAR 500 per year in some schedules, plus a separate dependent levy.
  • Dependent levy (Maqassah): SAR 400 per month (SAR 4,800 per year)

Because fee schedules can be adjusted, always confirm the exact amount shown for your case on the official portal before paying.

Flexible Quarterly Renewals

To ease cash flow, flexible payment options let iqama and dependent fees be paid for 3, 6, 9, or 12 months. Typical amounts:

  • Worker iqama: 3 months SAR 163, 6 months SAR 325, 9 months SAR 488, 12 months SAR 650.
  • Dependent fees: 3 months SAR 1,200, 6 months SAR 2,400, 12 months SAR 4,800.

Some guides also mention a small Absher processing fee on certain transactions. Check the payment summary screen before you confirm so there are no surprises.

Smart Habits for Using Absher

  • Enable Nafath for the smoothest, most secure logins.
  • Keep your registered mobile number and email up to date.
  • Check iqama expiry dates well in advance — for you and every dependent.
  • Remind your sponsor about worker iqama renewals, since those are filed on the business side.
  • Save or screenshot payment and visa confirmations for your records.

Used well, Absher turns hours of paperwork into a few taps. When in doubt about a specific fee or requirement, always verify the details on the official government portal before you proceed.
