Authorities in Jeddah shut down 18 illegal warehouses during a joint enforcement raid targeting sites in the southern part of the city. The operation resulted in the seizure of a wide range of goods, including counterfeit products carrying unauthorized medical claims.
The closed sites included nine clothing warehouses, two honey-production warehouses, two furniture warehouses, one food-products warehouse, one mobile-phone-accessories warehouse, one perfume warehouse, and one warehouse storing products with medical claims. Inspectors seized clothing, furniture, honey, perfumes, foodstuffs, and counterfeit items during the raid.
The campaign brought together several government bodies, including the Jeddah Mayoralty, the Ministry of Commerce, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Civil Defense, and the Field Control Department, reflecting a coordinated push to enforce municipal and safety standards.
Why it matters
Unlicensed warehouses can store goods in unsafe conditions and put counterfeit or unregulated products into the local market, posing risks to consumers. Products carrying false medical claims are of particular concern for public health.
Residents are encouraged to report municipal violations through the Balady app or by calling the 940 hotline, helping authorities identify and shut down non-compliant sites across the city.
