Jeddah Airport Hits Record 53.4M Passengers in 2025

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has confirmed its position as the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia, handling a record 53.4 million passengers during 2025 — the highest annual volume in the history of the Kingdom's airports. The figure represents about one-third of the 140.9 million passengers who moved through all Saudi airports last year.

The airport closed 2024 with around 49 million passengers, then grew between 9% and 14% year-on-year to break through the 53-million mark. In the first half of 2025 alone it served 25.5 million travelers, up 6.8% on the same period a year earlier, with a peak operational day of 178,000 passengers recorded on 5 April 2025.

Momentum Continues into 2026

Growth carried into the new year. January 2026 saw 5.45 million passengers, a 7.3% rise over January 2025, while flight movements climbed around 11% to roughly 29,200. The airport's busiest week on record so far ran from 11 to 17 January 2026, with about 1.28 million passengers in seven days, and its busiest single day fell on 17 January 2026, with close to 195,300 passengers across some 1,089 flights.

Across the first quarter of 2026 the airport handled more than 14.8 million passengers, up about 2.8% year-on-year, on over 83,000 flights. Between January and July 2026 it served roughly 28.55 million passengers on around 169,900 flights and processed close to 33.6 million checked bags.

As the primary gateway for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, international tourists, and domestic travelers, the airport reaches its highest volumes during Ramadan, Hajj, and the summer travel season. Nationally in 2025, Saudi airports moved 75.8 million international and 65.1 million domestic passengers, with Jeddah's airport ranked first for arriving and departing traffic. The record numbers point to steady growth in tourism and travel demand across the Kingdom.
