Jeddah Flights Resume After Airline Safety Reviews

Flights to and from Jeddah have resumed after several airlines completed safety and operational reviews, though resumption dates vary from one carrier to another. King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is operational, with some delays and cancellations still being reported.

Among the airlines returning to service, Malaysia Airlines resumed scheduled Kuala Lumpur–Jeddah flights on 18 October 2026, while Gulf Air and SriLankan Airlines also restarted their Saudi Arabia services on the same date. Carriers within the Lufthansa Group ended their temporary suspensions after 16 October 2026.

Not every airline has fully returned to normal operations. Some have continued suspensions or are operating reduced schedules, which means flight availability depends on the specific route and airline. Travellers planning to fly through Jeddah should not assume all services have resumed across the board.

What travellers should know

There is no Saudi government fee of any kind — no visa fee, residency fee, or other charge in Saudi Riyal — that applies simply because flights have resumed. Any messages suggesting otherwise should be treated with caution.

Because schedules remain in flux, passengers are advised to confirm their booking directly with the operating airline and to check the latest status with King Abdulaziz International Airport before heading to the airport. Verifying departure times in advance can help avoid disruption caused by residual delays or last-minute cancellations.
