A sports-development forum in Jeddah brought together more than 350 specialists on 14 October 2026 to examine how to build stronger links between schools, universities, and Saudi sports organizations. The event was hosted by the University of Business and Technology in cooperation with the Saudi Universities Sports Federation, as part of the university’s Sports Day activities.
Held under the theme “Towards More Distinguished and Sustainable University Sports,” the forum drew experts from the sports, youth, academic, administrative, media, and university sectors. Discussions covered early talent identification, sports management, media, student health, sports medicine, and the long-term development of athletes.
A central focus was cooperation among families, schools, universities, and sports organizations to nurture young talent from an early stage. Speakers also called for closer coordination between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sport to create a clearer pathway for student athletes.
Why it matters
For families and students across the Kingdom, the forum reflects growing attention to developing sporting talent within the education system. Stronger links between schools and universities could help identify promising athletes earlier and provide better support through coaching, health services, and sports medicine.
The gathering highlights the role universities are playing in shaping a sustainable sports culture — one that connects education, health, and athletic development for the next generation of Saudi talent.
