The Ministry of Health is calling on parents across Saudi Arabia to complete the school fitness screening for children newly entering the first grade, a free service offered at primary healthcare centers nationwide.
Parents can book an appointment through the Sehhaty application by following these steps: open Appointments, then Book an Appointment, select a primary healthcare center, choose the Family Medicine Clinic, pick a date and time, and confirm the booking.
The child must attend the appointment accompanied by a parent or guardian. Required documents include the child's national ID or residence permit, along with the original vaccination certificate.
What the screening covers
The examination includes verification of vaccinations, a review of medical and family history, and a clinical examination. It also measures height, weight, and body mass index (BMI), and checks eyesight, hearing, speech, and dental health.
The Ministry notes that the screening helps determine the appropriate educational track for the child and identifies any conditions that may require follow-up or referral, giving families a clear picture of their child's health before the school year begins.
The service is available from the second semester of the academic year until the start of the following academic year, allowing parents ample time to complete it. For health inquiries, the Ministry's official information line, 937, operates 24 hours a day.
