King Salman has issued a royal order promoting and appointing 26 judges to Saudi Arabia's Board of Grievances, in a move aimed at reinforcing the administrative judiciary across the Kingdom. The order was issued on 16 October 2026.
the appointments and promotions are intended to strengthen the administrative justice system, improve judicial efficiency, and raise the overall quality of judicial outcomes for those who bring cases before the court.
The Board of Grievances is the Kingdom's administrative court, handling disputes between individuals or businesses and government bodies. It is headed by Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Alohaydib, who also chairs the Administrative Judiciary Council.
Why it matters
For residents and expats alike, a stronger administrative judiciary means more capacity to review and resolve cases involving government decisions and public-sector matters. Expanding the pool of qualified judges is intended to help cases move more smoothly and support consistent, high-quality rulings.
The order is a judicial personnel decision, so no fees, application steps, or public-service procedures are connected to it. Members of the public who need to interact with the administrative courts continue to follow the usual channels and processes already in place.
