Al-Ahaidib Named President of Board of Grievances

A royal order dated 24 Sha’ban 1447 (12 February 2026) has appointed Dr. Ali bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Ahaidib as President of the Board of Grievances with the rank of minister. Under his new role, he also serves as Chairman of the Administrative Judiciary Council.

The appointment order was published in the official gazette Umm Al-Qura (issue 5144, dated 13 February 2026), confirming its legal effect and implementation.

What the Board of Grievances does

The Board of Grievances is a key judicial body that oversees administrative disputes involving state entities. In recent years, its role has expanded to include commercial and investment litigation within Saudi Arabia, making it an important reference point for businesses and individuals dealing with government-related and commercial cases.

The Law of the Board of Grievances outlines the Board's judicial structure and competencies. It also specifies that the Board's vice presidents are appointed by royal order, forming part of the overall framework that governs the institution.

For residents and the wider business community, the leadership of the Board matters because it handles disputes that can affect commercial activity and dealings with public bodies. As of 2026, Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Ahaidib is officially identified as President of the Board of Grievances and Chairman of the Administrative Judiciary Council in government communications.
