Sports academies in Makkah are reporting a notable rise in youth and adolescent enrollment during the summer 2026 school vacation, prompting many to expand their training schedules and diversify their programs to meet growing demand.
Around 28 private sports academies currently operate across the city, offering football alongside other sports at competitive rates. Typical monthly subscriptions range from about SAR 300 to SAR 500 varying by academy, age group, and the number of weekly sessions.
Structured Summer Options
Beyond private academies, Umm Al-Qura University runs a five-week summer program during the holiday, with weekday activities that include basketball, futsal, badminton, karate, table tennis, chess, a fitness gym, and board games. Fees, where applicable, are modest and structured for families.
Nationwide, a Summer Camps Program for children aged 6 to 18 operates in several cities, typically running Sunday to Thursday from 17:00 to 22:00, with thousands of places available. Pricing across the Kingdom varies widely: some premium multi-sport camps charge around SAR 1,500 plus VAT while education-linked holiday camps can cost roughly SAR 690 including VAT for six weeks.
Registration for most private academies and university programs in Makkah is handled directly through the academy or institution via online forms, phone, or in-person sign-up, and does not currently require national platforms. Organized sports activity, licensing, and academy operation in the region fall under the Ministry of Sports, which issues activity licenses and supports youth programs as part of Quality of Life and sports development initiatives.
For families, the expanded offering means more affordable, structured ways to keep children active and engaged through the long summer break.
