Mazen Al-Sudairi Named CMA Chairman by Royal Order

A royal order issued on 13 August 2026 appointed Mazen bin Turki bin Abdullah Al‑Sudairi as chairman of the board of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) with ministerial rank. He succeeds Mohammed bin Abdullah Al‑Quwaiz, whose tenure as chairman ended the same day after roughly nine years leading the authority.

The change is a leadership and governance matter. It does not alter the legal framework in force: the CMA continues to regulate securities and the capital market in Saudi Arabia, overseeing disclosure, licensing, enforcement, and market development under the Capital Market Law.

For investors and listed companies, day-to-day services carry on as normal. Prospectus approval, listing, disclosure, corporate actions, and the licensing of financial institutions continue through existing official channels — CMA electronic services via its official portal, and the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) platforms for trading, listing, and disclosures.

What it means for the community

As of mid-August 2026, no new CMA investor or issuer fees, platform prices, or procedural charges have been announced in connection with this appointment. Existing published fee schedules remain in effect until they are officially revised.

There are also no announced changes to the validity periods of CMA licenses, approvals, or reporting cycles tied to the appointment, and no new use of government platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, or Tawakkalna for CMA-specific procedures. Capital market services remain primarily through CMA and Tadawul systems. In short, residents and businesses dealing with the market should expect continuity in processes and costs for now.
