Mazen bin Turki Al-Sudairi has been appointed Chairman of the board of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) in Saudi Arabia, with the rank of minister, under a royal order issued on 13 August 2026. The same order relieved Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Kuwaiz of his position as chairman of the board.
With the appointment, the CMA board now comprises five full-time commissioners: Mazen Turki Al-Sudairi as Chairman, Youssef Hamad Al-Bilihid as Vice Chairman, and members Khaled Abdulaziz Al-Homoud, Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Binhassan, and Dr. Murya Saad Habbash.
The CMA is the government authority tasked with regulating and developing the Saudi capital market. Its responsibilities include licensing and supervising financial market institutions, overseeing disclosure and listing rules, and protecting investors in securities.
Al-Sudairi's appointment follows previous service as an adviser at the General Secretariat of the Saudi Cabinet with excellent rank in 2024, along with earlier senior roles in financial research and capital markets.
For investors and companies active in the Saudi market, the existing regulatory frameworks remain in place. Public disclosure, listing, and trading rules continue under the CMA's current rules, and no new fees, listing charges, or changes to license validity periods are tied to this appointment. No platform-based procedures are specifically linked to the change of leadership, meaning market participants can expect continuity in day-to-day dealings with the authority.
