A royal order issued on 13 August 2026 appointed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA). The same order relieved Bandar Ibrahim Alkhorayef of his role as chairman of the authority’s board.
The LCGPA remains a separate specialized government body responsible for local content policy, government procurement rules, and mandatory local-content requirements across the Kingdom. Its day-to-day operations are led by CEO Abdulrahman Al-Samari, who oversees the implementation of local content and procurement policies.
Why it matters
The authority’s decisions shape how public tenders are evaluated and which products government entities are required or encouraged to buy. In February 2026, the LCGPA began phasing in higher minimum local-content percentage requirements for products on its Mandatory List, a change that directly affects the eligibility and evaluation of bids in government contracts.
By 2026, the Mandatory List of national products was being expanded toward around 2,000 items, up from about 1,500. The authority also takes part in the national localization framework for priority goods and services, supported by a Cabinet-approved incentive framework for localization.
For businesses working with government entities, the LCGPA is listed as an official government agency on the national services portal, with a central phone line (011 838 7777) and formal contact channels used by companies and public bodies.
