Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has been appointed Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia, while continuing to serve as Minister of Energy. The appointment took effect on 11 July 2026, bringing both portfolios under a single minister.
Under the new arrangement, Bandar Al-Khorayef was relieved of the Industry and Mineral Resources portfolio. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman now leads both the energy sector and the industry and mineral resources sector.
What it means
Combining the two portfolios places energy policy and industrial and mining development under unified leadership. Both sectors are closely linked, as many industrial and mining activities depend heavily on energy supply and planning.
For residents, investors, and workers across the Kingdom, the change signals a more coordinated approach to two areas that are central to the country's economic diversification goals. Industry and mining are among the sectors expected to create jobs and attract investment in the years ahead.
Saudi Living will continue to follow developments related to the two portfolios and their impact on the wider community.
