Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Named Industry Minister

A royal order dated 11 July 2026 appointed Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, in addition to his continuing role as Minister of Energy. The order, issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was published in the Official Gazette Umm Al-Qura in issue 5172 on 17 July 2026, carrying Order No. O/19.

Under the same order, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef was relieved of his position as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources and appointed Minister of State, tasked with overseeing the General Authority for Military Industries.

With this appointment, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman now concurrently holds three roles: Minister of Energy, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority.

Why it matters

The move places energy, industry and mineral resources policy under a single ministerial leadership. This spans crude oil, gas, electricity, renewables, hydrogen, mineral licensing and industrial strategy — sectors central to the Kingdom's economic diversification efforts.

For residents and businesses, no changes to fees, permit prices, transaction steps or validity periods on government platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, Najiz, Nafath, Tawakkalna or others have been announced as a direct result of this appointment.
