King Salman issued Royal Orders on 13 August 2026 appointing Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA), relieving Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef of the position.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman currently serves as Minister of Energy and as Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and now takes on the additional role of chairing the LCGPA board.
What the authority does
The Local Content and Government Procurement Authority is the central government body responsible for shaping how national goods and services are prioritised in public spending. It defines and updates mandatory local-content product lists for government procurement, issues local content policies, regulations and guidance to ministries and government entities, and monitors compliance of government tenders with local-content requirements.
For businesses across the Kingdom, the authority's work directly influences opportunities in government contracts and the growing emphasis on locally produced goods and services in line with national economic goals.
This appointment is an internal state governance change effected by Royal Order. As of 29 August 2026, there are no publicly documented user-facing steps, fees in Saudi Riyal, or validity periods that citizens, residents, or companies must follow specifically because of the change in the LCGPA chairmanship. Existing local content and procurement rules continue to apply as usual.
