Ministry of Sport unveils stadium tech at LEAP 2026

The Ministry of Sport is taking part in LEAP 2026 at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Center in Malham from 31 August to 3 September 2026, showcasing a range of digital transformation and technology solutions within the event's Sports Tech Hub.

The Ministry's pavilion focuses on using modern technologies to improve the operation and efficiency of sports facilities, enhance the fan experience and services for beneficiaries, and develop data-driven and AI-supported sports operations.

New tech for major venues

Among the highlights are planned technologies for King Fahd Sports City, including AI-powered video analytics systems for events and crowd monitoring, upgraded audio and communications systems, and a high-density Wi-Fi network built to support large numbers of users and digital services.

The Ministry is also presenting a digital stadium app for King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, scheduled for launch in October 2026. The app aims to bring stadium and match services together in a single platform, offering visitors an integrated experience that includes in-venue navigation and easy access to services.

The Ahlan fan platform

A key feature on display is the Ahlan (أهلاً) app, a unified digital identity platform for fans attending football tournaments and events hosted in Saudi Arabia. It brings match and host-city information and services together in one digital profile, and is available on iOS and Android as a companion for sports, entertainment, and cultural experiences.

Ahlan is being piloted for the AFC Champions League Elite 2026 in the round of 16 and final stages, and is being prepared for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027. The platform is designed to combine ticket purchases, travel planning, transportation logistics, and stadium access in a single interface — a step that could make attending major matches simpler for residents and visitors across the Kingdom.
