Riyadh to Host UNESCO AI Ethics Forum in Sept 2026

Riyadh will host the 4th UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (GFEAI 2026) from 14 to 17 September 2026, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world. The Forum is organized by UNESCO and hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) and in coordination with the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture and Science.

The event will be held in person at The Ritz-Carlton, Riyadh, on Makkah Al Mukarramah Road in the Al Hada district (Riyadh 11493). It runs across four full days: 14 September is reserved for invited participants only, while 15–17 September are open to registered and accepted attendees.

Attendance is free of charge, with participation fees set at SAR 0 for both public participants and media representatives, subject to acceptance. Registration is handled through the official online platform for GFEAI 2026, which offers two separate routes — one for general participants and one for media. Applicants must submit the online form, and attendance is only confirmed once an acceptance email is sent to the registered address.

Why it matters

The Forum is part of Global AI Week in Saudi Arabia and is held alongside the Global AI Summit 2026 in Riyadh. Sessions will cover AI ethics and governance, capacity building, responsible innovation, AI safety, international cooperation, inclusion and accessibility, gender equality, education, health, sustainability, energy, and AI supervision and accountability.

A dedicated research workshop is scheduled for 14 September 2026, with a call for abstracts and panel proposals open to researchers and practitioners. Confirmed participants will receive detailed program agendas with specific session times ahead of the event.
