Moody's Affirms Saudi Aa3 Rating, Stable Outlook

Saudi Arabia's sovereign credit rating was affirmed at Aa3 with a stable outlook on 23 May 2026, in a fresh assessment of the Kingdom's financial strength and long-term economic direction.

The affirmation pointed to Saudi Arabia's large and wealthy economy, its vast hydrocarbon endowment, and its strong position in global energy markets. It also highlighted improving institutional and policy effectiveness across government.

Progress under رؤية السعودية 2030 was cited as a key support, having driven solid growth in the non-hydrocarbon economy, sustained public investment, structural reforms, and better fiscal and economic transparency.

Why the outlook is stable

The stable outlook was linked to the Kingdom's resilience against regional geopolitical risks and potential trade disruption. This is backed by flexibility in oil exports through the East-West pipeline and البحر الأحمر terminals, which give the country more than one route to reach global markets.

The assessment expects economic diversification to continue and for this momentum to be maintained over the coming years.

For residents and businesses in الرياض, جدة and across the Kingdom, a steady credit rating matters. It typically supports lower borrowing costs, greater investor confidence, and continued spending on major projects and services — factors that shape jobs, housing, and the broader business climate that the community depends on.
