National Blood Donation Campaign Launched Across Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia launched its 2026 annual national blood donation campaign on 6 October 2026, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman taking part by donating blood. The campaign calls on residents and citizens across the Kingdom to give blood regularly and voluntarily.

The initiative aims to support patients who need blood and blood components, encourage a culture of regular donation, and strengthen the country's self-sufficiency in its national blood supply. Donation is completely free of charge, with no fee applied to donors.

Donation services remain available at blood donation centers throughout the Kingdom. In the Eastern Province, the Eastern Health Cluster has designated several locations for donors: King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam, Khafji General Hospital, Jubail General Hospital, and Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Hospital for Blood Diseases in Qatif, in addition to a mobile donation unit.

Why it matters

Blood donation is a simple act that can help save lives, from accident and surgery patients to people living with chronic conditions that require regular transfusions. Maintaining a steady national blood supply depends on a continuous flow of voluntary donors, which is why the campaign emphasizes regular giving rather than one-time contributions.

The Ministry of Health is also developing blood-donation services through the Sehhaty platform, making it easier for the community to engage with donation programs digitally. Residents interested in taking part can visit a blood donation center in their area to learn about the donation process.
