New Public Prosecutor, Board of Grievances Chief Named

Saudi Arabia has confirmed a series of senior judicial and oversight appointments under a royal order issued in February 2026, including a new Public Prosecutor and a new President of the Board of Grievances, both holding the rank of minister.

Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Yousef now serves as the Kingdom's Public Prosecutor with ministerial rank. Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Ahidib has been appointed President of the Board of Grievances, also at ministerial rank. Both appointments are in force as of 2026.

How the bodies are structured

The Board of Grievances is an independent administrative judicial body headed by a president of ministerial rank, appointed and relieved by royal order. Its structure includes a president, one or more vice presidents, and a sufficient number of judges, researchers, specialists, and administrators. The president holds the authority and jurisdiction of a minister over the Board's members, employees, and contractors, and is the competent authority for communications with ministries and other bodies.

An Administrative Judiciary Council operates within the Board, chaired by its president and including the President of the Supreme Administrative Court, the most senior deputy president of the Board, four judges meeting appeal-judge requirements, and two members chosen for their expertise. The Public Prosecution, meanwhile, has its own Public Prosecution Council chaired by the Attorney General, with the Deputy Attorney General as deputy chairman, seven senior prosecutorial members, and two experts. Members in the specialist categories of both councils are appointed by royal order for four-year renewable terms.

These appointments matter to residents and businesses because the Board of Grievances handles administrative disputes, while the Public Prosecution oversees investigation and prosecution nationwide. Stronger leadership at the top of these bodies underpins the reliability of the Kingdom's justice system for citizens and expatriates alike.
