14,542 Residency & Labor Violations in One Week

Inspection campaigns across Saudi Arabia recorded 14,542 violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations in a single week between 6 and 12 August 2026,

The total breaks down into 7,216 residency law violations, 3,843 border security violations — including cases of illegal entry and attempted border crossings — and 3,483 labor law violations. Separately, the Passports Directorate issued 24,417 administrative decisions during one Hijri month, covering imprisonment, fines, and deportation for violators.

Penalties in focus

Assisting border security violators is classified as a major crime warranting arrest. It carries imprisonment of up to 15 years and a fine of up to SAR 1,000,000, along with confiscation of any vehicle used for transport or property used for shelter. The offender's name is also published at their own expense.

For those who transport, employ, shelter, or otherwise help residency and labor violators, penalties reach a fine of up to SAR 100,000, with imprisonment of up to six months in some cases. Expatriate offenders may be deported after serving their sentence.

Establishments that allow employees to work for others or hire workers not authorized for them face fines of up to SAR 100,000, imprisonment of responsible managers for up to one year, deportation for expatriate managers, and a possible ban on recruiting foreign workers for up to five years.

How to report

Residents and citizens can report violations by calling 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern Province regions, and 999 in all other regions of the Kingdom. Some reports also list 996 for border-security-related cases. The figures underline continued enforcement efforts affecting both individuals and businesses across the country.
