The 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Riyadh have been postponed, with the event now set to run from 28 March to 8 April 2027 instead of the previously scheduled dates of 11–21 December 2026. Despite the change, the Games will keep their original name, Riyadh 2026.
The decision to move the event came after a review of the organisational and logistical requirements involved in hosting a multi-sport competition of this scale. The revised timeline is intended to support preparations for one of Asia's largest indoor sporting gatherings.
The Games are expected to bring together more than 4,500 athletes from over 45 Asian National Olympic Committees, making the capital a focal point for indoor disciplines and martial arts across the continent.
Why it matters
For residents and visitors in Riyadh, the event represents another major international sporting occasion for the city, promising a wide programme of competitions and the opportunity to see top athletes from across Asia. The rescheduled spring 2027 window also places the Games in a cooler period of the year.
At this stage, no information has been announced regarding ticket prices, entry fees, visa arrangements, or a revised venue schedule. Further details are expected to be shared as preparations progress. Saudi Living will continue to follow the story and share updates when official information becomes available.
